RIP MARBLES (06.06.11)

Sadly on our 5th Wedding Anniversary we had to make the painstaking decision to have my beloved pet cat Marbles put to sleep
She was an unwanted cat who we came into our lives about 5 years ago and completely stole our hearts away. Her previous owner couldn't be bothered with her. She went on holiday and basically left Marbles to fend for herself.
She came along to our house miaowing madly for food. We couldn't refuse such a beautiful cat.
She settled in right from the start and even though her "owner" came back to get her,  Marbles refused point blank to go with her.  She told us she was a whingy cat and about 7 years old and if we wanted her we could have her.  How can someone be so cruel?

So she became a fully fledged member of our family. She loved being fussed over, and chicken and tuna were always a firm favourite not the mention all the things she shouldn't have eaten!
She was having difficulty breathing on Sunday and we got her booked in at the vets immediately. She had to be taken away immediately in an ambulance to the bigger vets for x-rays.
Sadly our worst fears were confirmed.  There was nothing they could do for her.   She had a massive cancerous tumour filling her whole left lung. Her heart and other vital organs were all pushed across to the right hand side of her body.
So it was no wonder she was lying down constantly and having difficulty breathing. We had noticed that she hadn't been flinging herself around like she used to and leaping onto the windows sills!
She wasn't a scrap of bother and I am just grateful to her for picking us to take care of her. She was a determined sometimes stubborn young lady! She had to have the last mew in a conversation and would sit on command!
She loved nothing better than lying in the empty bath to cool down. She liked to hide in the grass and pretend to be a "lion". She had the most amazing attitude of any cat we have had the privilege to own.

She was one of a kind and we will never ever forget her.
RIP Marbles - Mammy Daddy and Sian will miss you forever.
